Everyone deserves a space to be able to speak freely and frankly about their thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Often neglect, fear, shame, and guilt get in the way of voicing our thoughts and needs, resulting in feelings of being ‘stuck,' inflexibility to our current or changing circumstances, or feelings and compulsions with which we are unsatisfied.
Therapy is the active process of giving voice to these feelings, working through factors that play into our current ways of being, and retraining ourselves to function in ways more satisfying to us.
There is no one-size-fits-all; every therapeutic experience is different. We will work with you to explore goals you may have and techniques that work best for you.
Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects in a therapeutic relationship. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust in talking about particularly sensitive topics, topics that are usually not talked about outside of a therapeutic session. One of our jobs as your counselor is to make sure information shared and discussed within the session remains confidential.
However, state laws and professional ethics require exceptions to confidentiality, namely:
1) There is suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.
2) The counselor has reason to suspect the client is at risk of seriously harming themselves or has threatened to harm others.
We currently take insurance with several companies in Pennsylvania. We are always looking for new insurance companies that we may be eligible to become credentialed with. Please note that the credentialing process may take anywhere from a week to several months. Please check back for updated information. Visit the Insurance and Fees page for current pricing, including sliding scale options.
We are unable to provide immediate assistance or support at all times. If you are having an emergency, you can call 911 or go to an emergency room, or call Resolve Crisis Services at 1-888-796-8226.
If you leave a message we will get back to you as soon as we are able.
Sessions are typically 50-53 minutes in length.
We understand things come up. Please provide us with at least 24 hours notice (48 hours preferred) if you need to cancel or change your appointment.
We have a cancellation policy that states you will be charged a $60 fee if you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your appointment time and a full session fee of $120 will be charged if you do not show for the appointment.
Your appointment time is reserved for you, so as soon as you arrive, we will begin the session and use whatever time is left.
If you are more than 15 minutes late without prior notification, you will be marked as a No Call No Show for the appointment and charged accordingly.
Your first few meetings will give you and your therapist an opportunity to get to know each other and decide if you are a good fit. You may be asked some questions about your background and goals for therapy. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about the therapy process, as well as discuss a plan for treatment. If for some reason you and your therapist are not the right fit, you will be provided with trusted referrals.
The therapy relationship is unique. Unlike other relationships in your life, your therapist is an unbiased, objective support who can help you gain new perspective in a way that others who are intricately woven into your life cannot. When you come to therapy, you are taking care of yourself by dedicating time to the task of taking care of you and only you. No need to fear you said too much or worry about your privacy.
